For the past few days I have been kinda out of it. I have been feeling a lot of doubt creep into my mind about my business, my work, my purpose and all that good stuff.
I even took a mini break from my family to just get away from it all. And boy did I need that. I loved not having to answer the constant questions from the kids (and the husband), take the dog out and let's not forget all the daily chores that someone has to do. I took care of me, and it was great. I watched movies and read all day.
And when I came home, I was still feeling blah. You know that feeling when you just don't want to do much of anything?
I wouldn't call it depressed either, but just a general feeling like I need a change of some sort, a true break. I mean social media lately has been a pain in the ass with all the drama. I won't even go into it here, because it is a waste of positive energy.
For the first time in a week I am feeling like my old self again. I have been on social media a bit, but I have pulled way back. Scrolling is so unproductive and leads to all sorts of stuff that I just need a break from.
Why am I sharing all this with you today? Because maybe you are feeling a bit lost too. We all go through it, and it is okay. It is more than okay, because we can be with it, then move on to something else. Go out and try something new. Get a way from it all.
Just turning off your phone is a vacation of sorts. I promise you if you get away for just a while, you will feel more energized, get back into yourself a bit more, and relax. I have gotten a few ideas just by doing not much of anything.
How can you unplug today?
It has been a minute since last I posted. Oh well, I got busy doing other stuff. Life happens like that sometimes.
So what do I have for you today you wonder? I can feel your anxiousness, sitting on the edge of your sit for the wisdom coming forth in just a moment.
Yes, I am in a snarky mood today. Deal with it. Ha! Okay here goes today's thoughts.
A few weeks ago I was kinda obsessed with researching home meal delivery companies. The idea is so appealing to me. Now I know these meal kit companies charge a lot. I know this. I also know there is a huge convenience factor, which was the appeal for me.
You see, I plan all of my family meals. I shop for about 90% of everything we consume (my husband loves to go to the store on the weekends). And a few weeks ago, I had enough of it all and began what started as a simple search but quickly became quite the rabbit hole of meal delivery services.
Did you know how many services there are? I had no idea. Seriously crazy amounts. Anywho, the search was on and I made a choice. I chose a company that does smoothies. Because I love a smoothie in the morning, especially when it gets warmer outside. I also love all the nutrition you can gain from a smoothie, and quite frankly my smoothies were getting boring.
Again, I do not need any flack on how expensive these services are. I know. I know it is cheaper to make it myself, but I was at my breaking point, so back off with your judgements.
Okay, so back to the smoothies. I got to pick 5 different smoothies each week, and they all looked delicious from the fancy pictures. The write ups were beautifully written and described all the nutrition I was going to be getting, and I was sold.
So I signed up knowing I could cancel at any time, and I really just needed to try this service and see what it was all about. It was research for my peace of mind you see.
Yesterday the Fed-Ex truck pulled up, and I knew my smoothies were in that truck. Sure enough the delivery was made, and the box was heavy. I got excited. I opened my box of nutrition and was pleased, truly. There were 5 different smoothies all packaged separately for ease of use with a beautiful recipe card and everything.
I had to make one immediately. And you know what, it was good. It paired flavors I hadn't thought of. I was in a rut you see and making the same smoothies day after day. Hence the allure of this company.
When my daughter got home from school, she too wanted a smoothie, so we made another one even though I knew I only had 4 more left. We made it together, which was fun and it was just okay. Meh, would be the best word to describe it.
And that is when I came to my senses and cancelled the membership. I tried it out, and I realized (again) that I could easily make up my own recipes. It is not that I didn't know this before, but that allure was very strong.
And it got me thinking about copyrighting of all things. You can have the most beautifully written copy in the world, but that does not mean the product is all that and a bag of chips. Marketing a product or service is a tricky business where the prettiest prose can win out even if the product or service is just "meh".
Lesson learned, curiosity was satisfied and I am off to the store to buy my own smoothie ingredients. On the up side, I learned that my blender is pretty freaking powerful, so that is a win for sure.
