2/3/2014 0 Comments Keeping it realI love affirmations. I love uplifting stories and cute little puppies with fun, inspiring quotes. Facebook is full of all of these lovely little reminders of being calm and peaceful and enlightened. I often find in the holistic, new age community the desire to be wise and enlightened all the time. It is a farce however. No one is perfect, or 100% enlightened if they are in a body on this earth. Sorry to say, but we are souls having a very real and human experience.
I think people would be so much happier if they would just "be". Be who they are. Be the best they can be. I so often see folks trying to be better, more enlightened and wiser, in-tune and giving inspirational pep talks to everyone they meet. While it is great to want to be the best you can be, it can also come across as either fake or like you are one-upping those around you. No one likes a "one-upper". In my view it is perfectly perfect to burp and fart and be sassy. It is actually quite fun at times. It is okay to get pissed off at the driver who cuts you off. Emotions are emotions. There are no good or bad emotions. They just are. If you find yourself getting stuck in a certain emotion, you might want to take a look at that. I have always been big on the balance of things. You want chocolate, just eat the damn chocolate and stop obsessing over it. I laugh sometimes at all the various recipes that are "chocolate-like" but God forbid not chocolate. Eat the chocolate. Maybe don't eat it at every meal. Balance. We are each unique and Divine just as we are! Perhaps instead of always looking to improve or become more, be content with who you are right now at this moment. Being fully present with the now is such a gift to yourself and those around you. I always find myself telling my kids to not worry about what others are doing, because you can only control what you do and how you feel. It's so true you know? You will never be able to control or change anyone but yourself. Have goals, improve your life if that is what you desire, but I invite you to also celebrate who you are right now. You are awesome. You are enough. You are smart enough, loveable enough and wise enough. Celebrate that. Until next time.....keep rockin your awesome self.
