Summer is here! In my neck of the woods, it is hotter than a hoochie coochie (which means it is HOT and humid). The kids are out of school, and my days have slowed right on down.
Years ago when I was a stay at home mama, summers were just like regular days except with tons of free time. Now that I am an online business owner, I find it can be tricky to spend time on my business. One of my kids has aged out of the summer camps, so at any given moment there is at least one kid hanging around. I am carving out bits of time throughout the day to do what I do and keep up with all my "stuff", but I admit it is all too easy to just laze about.
I sometimes long for year round schools for all the kids. This summer off model feels outdated to me, since nowadays parents are working more than ever. But for the moment both kids are off all summer.
Do you find it harder to "work" your biz in the summer? I do think these dog days of summer can be a great time to take vacations and ease up on the gas pedal a bit; to dream a bit and allow inspiration to seep into the old noggin.
For a while I was feeling impatient with myself for being what I perceived to be as "lazy", but I have let that go. I am intending to be more in the flow of the summer days, enjoying these moments with my kids. I am embracing these lazy dog days of summer. Are YOU?
